Your wedding day will be one of the happiest days of your life so don't let the planning process mar the magic before your big day. It can be great fun to plan your wedding day but, unless you have professional event organising experience, at times it can feel overwhelming.
Here are our top ten tips for a stress-free wedding planning process:
- Allow plenty of time. Plan your wedding day as far in advance as possible. This will help ensure you get the first pick of all your preferred suppliers. Venues and some suppliers can get booked at least one year in advance if not two!
- Write lists. Keep a to-do list and prioritise each item according to lead time.
- Keep a diary or calendar. Your suppliers will let you know when they need your order, menu choices, final numbers etc according to your wedding date. Make a note of these in a diary or calendar to make sure you don't miss deadlines.
- Expect the unexpected and don't panic. Things happen and venues and suppliers are used to adapting. However, providing as much notice as possible always helps and will ultimately avoid disappointment.
- Choose a venue that you love inside and out! The great British weather is unpredictable but Hope Farm has stunning spaces both inside and out so come rain or shine you will get married in beautiful surroundings.
- Delegate wherever you can. We have a comprehensive Directory of talented wedding experts who are ready and waiting to help you plan a hassle-free wedding. Everything from Wedding Stylists to Stationers who can offer plenty of advice and help along the way.
- Ensure the venue is accessible for all. Step free access is a must for elderly or mobility impaired guests and we have adapted our barns to ensure no one feels excluded.
- Entertainment for young and old. If you are inviting children then bear in mind their needs. A few age appropriate games or activities will be welcomed and parents will adore you if you provide a nanny or entertainer.
- Try not to be consumed by your wedding preparation. Take time off to enjoy your engagement.
- Don't underestimate the power of sleep. It can be tempting to stay up into the wee hours as you plan your wedding day; researching the latest wedding trends and updating your Pinterest account; but don't forget to get plenty beauty sleep!
And don't forget, we are always on hand to help you plan your wedding day, answer questions, offer advice and provide a sounding board if you need one. We have planned hundreds of weddings here at Hope Farm and have plenty more tips to help you make the most of your wedding day here.
